Ingenuity Featured on Thrive Together’s International Web Event

Ingenuity was one of three organizations that was invited to participate in an international 2-hour webinar hosted by the Thrive Movement on Saturday, February 14th, 2015.  Kimberly and Foster Gamble, co-founders of Thrive, set the stage for an interactive discussion with nearly 200 web participants to explore what creative and innovative pathways are being developed to build new community models that create benefit for all.  New Earth Nation, One Community Global and Ingenuity Innovation Center each shared their own unique approaches, strategies and thoughts around what is required to create and build sustainable communities, locally, regionally and across the globe.  Issues around economics, energy, technology, personal power, governance, sovereignty and health and well-being were hot topics of conversation. Each panelist showcased how their work used a whole systems approach to tackle local and global challenges facing humanity and the planet by creating and building community solutions.

“It was a really exciting opportunity for us to share what we had been creating and living for the last several years,” stated Aaron Imhof.  “The Thrive movie really inspired us to look at what we could do to help make the world a better place.  We never dreamed that our work would actually be featured as a solutions piece.  Needless to say, Kate and I had a hard time sleeping the night before.”

Kate and Aaron had the chance to meet Kimberly and Foster in 2013.  The meeting was a result of several email exchanges that happened between Kate and Kimberly right after the Thrive movie had launched.

“When we first watched the Thrive movie trailer, Aaron and I got really excited and worked with our friends to host a viewing party at our friend’s business.  Nearly 20 people showed up.  Our event was the only one being done in Portland and needless to say, we had some pretty incredible conversation with those who participated.  I was deeply inspired by the work that this husband and wife team did and was especially moved by Kimberly’s presence.  Few women have inspired me like she did.  One day, I mustered up the courage to send her an email.  Even though I had no vision about Ingenuity yet, I just wanted her to know that her work really impacted me.  I never expected her to return my email, but about a month later she responded.  I was so excited and encouraged and from there – we just kept writing,” recalled Kate.

The webinar was full of lively discussion that explored many perspectives and insights around how others were working in a creative way to address our challenges.  Each organization shared their own unique whole systems approach by leveraging innovative technologies, law, health and consciousness to build new ways that help everyone thrive.

Ingenuity Innovation Center and Thrive plan to continue their work together by helping bring about resources, tools and connections to help people learn how to get involved in supporting and developing community solutions.  Thrive’s new Thrive Together online platform serves as an interactive space for people from all over the world connect and learn about various topics.  To view the full 2 hour program, please click here.  Note that the WebEx platform that the webinar was recorded in will require you to download some software to view the program.
